Five-point review
How to read a product-specific report without overclaiming
A certificate of analysis is evidence about the identified sample and the panels shown—not a universal quality badge or an approval.
- 01
Match the identity
Compare the exact product name, matrix or format, batch or lot code, and any sample identifier with the package.
- 02
Check the laboratory
Look for the laboratory name, contact information, report identifier, accreditation information when shown, and a way to verify the report at its source.
- 03
Check the dates
Review received, tested and reported dates. A report is not automatically evidence for later production lots.
- 04
Read units and qualifiers
Percentages, milligrams per gram, reporting limits, not-detected results and pass/fail statements do not mean the same thing.
- 05
Confirm the tested panels
Do not infer that pesticides, residual solvents, heavy metals, microbials, mycotoxins or other characteristics were checked unless the report lists those panels.
Common reasons a report cannot be matched
- The package and report show different batch or lot identifiers
- The report describes an ingredient or bulk material rather than the finished product
- The report is missing product identity or date information
- The linked file belongs to a different format, package size or formulation
- A panel is assumed even though it is not listed
What to send with a request
Make the match easier
Provide the exact product name, full batch or lot code, a clear photo of the package label, and where the product was obtained. Do not send sensitive identity or payment information.
